About

Learning for life, passion for growth.

Synetra was built for institutes and programmes that run mentorship at scale and were tired of doing it in spreadsheets, group chats and shared drives.

The problem

Mentorship programmes break in three places.

Mentors on trust

Someone vouches for someone, a spreadsheet row is added, and nobody ever sees a certificate. When it goes wrong the programme has no record of what was checked.

Matching on availability

The student gets whoever has a free slot this week. Expertise, domain and workload never enter the decision, and the pairing quietly fails a month later.

Records everywhere

The chat is in one app, the notes in a shared document, the materials in a drive folder, the quiz in a form builder. No one can answer "how is this engagement going?" without asking three people.

The approach

Fix each one structurally, not with a reminder email.

Verification before matchingA mentor uploads identity and credential documents; an administrator reviews them; only then can the engine consider them. The decision and reviewer are recorded.
Evidence-based matching, human-confirmedFive weighted signals produce a ranked list. An administrator confirms. The mentor accepts. Every step leaves a trace.
One record, row-level accessMessages, meetings, notes, materials, tasks, quizzes, progress and certificates share one engagement record, and database policies decide who sees each row.
Assessment that stays fairGrading on the server. Integrity signals a person reviews. No automatic verdicts, no invasive proctoring.
Side by side

The usual way, and this way.

Principles

Six words we hold ourselves to.

VerifiedNobody mentors on this platform without an administrator checking their documents.
ConsideredPairings are ranked on five signals and confirmed by a person.
AccountableEvery consequential action is written to an append-only audit log.
Private by defaultFiles sit in private storage, downloads are logged, and materials are watermarked to the recipient.
MinimalWe store the least identity data that lets us verify a mentor: an ID type and its last four characters.
PlainNo gamification, no streaks, no leaderboards. The interface gets out of the way of the work.
How it is built

Boring where it should be.

ApplicationNext.js on Vercel, server-rendered, with Edge middleware for session refresh and route gating.
DataPostgreSQL on Supabase with row-level security as the authoritative authorisation layer; the application code is a second line, not the first.
FilesPrivate Supabase Storage buckets. Signed URLs for owners; an authenticated server route for cross-user reads and watermarking.
TransportTLS with HSTS preload, a nonce-based Content-Security-Policy, frame denial, and Cloudflare in front for DNS and edge protection.
TestingUnit tests for the scoring, health and integrity models; database policies exercised in a real Postgres; end-to-end flows run against a live project before every release.

Who runs it

Synetra is operated by Synetra. Programme administrators are provisioned by us or by the institution; they are the people who verify mentors and confirm matches, and they answer to the institution, not to us. Questions about the platform itself go to support@synetra.com.
